Crafts

A craft is best described as a trade or art that involves a specific practical skill.  Craft describes a whole host of arts that are carried out by skilled artists which can range from painting, wood work, metal work, pottery, weaving, textiles, clay art and glass art. These crafts are known as studio crafts.



Arts and crafts are often started or continued as hobbies or fun activities that people take as seriously as they wish.  Some people treat it as a serious subject that they wish to make a living from, others look at it as a pleasant and a relaxing way to spend their time. The arts and crafts subjects themselves are separated into the old and traditional way of doing things and then there are new innovations that were carried out by small populations of people.



Almost all crafts require a certain level of expertise, patience and most of all skill that only comes with a large amount of practice.  It is very popular for people to take up craft classes in the day or evening. Some just want to get better at whatever craft they have taken up, other wish to use the skill for employment.
